Cutler and Gross 9290 Round Opticals

Small rounds have a particular character - precise, considered, a little intellectual - and the 9290 leans into all of it. The frame is acetate, and the single colourway is Obsidian, a black with real depth to it.

Lens width here is 47mm, which makes it the most compact frame in this range. Lens width is simply the distance across one lens, so at 47mm the circles sit close together and stay tight to the centre of the face. That is a genuinely small round, and it is best on narrower and smaller faces - or on anyone who has deliberately gone looking for that neat, contained proportion and is tired of being sold something bigger.

The dark acetate keeps the whole thing quiet, which suits the scale.
